Laura Thornton began as the children’s minister for infants, toddlers and preschoolers in October 2008.  “When the door for this job opened, I walked through with such excitement and honor.  It was the best combination of my work, my family, and my passion and it was here in a church that I love.” Laura and her husband, Cooper have been members of All Saint’s since the fall of 2000. 

They have two boys, Jackson and Milo.  “One of the reasons we had children was because of the children and youth programs at All Saints.  I am thrilled that my kids get to grow up in this community of faith and have such wonderful love and support on their spiritual journey.”

Prior to coming to California and All Saints, Laura earned her BA in Religion and History from Meredith College in North Carolina, then her Master of Divinity from Vanderbilt.  She was ordained as a minister in the Southern Baptist tradition in 1993, and has served on church staff in Baptist, Methodist and Disciples of Christ churches.  Her main focus has been youth and children’s ministry and program development. She and Cooper spent a year in Cardiff, Wales before their children were born. They love to talk about that year with anyone willing to listen!

She hopes that through her work with our youngest members, she can help families navigate their way into this large parish to find a community of love, justice and faith in which to raise our children.
